The 44th started on January 5th 2022 in a game called Holdfast: Nations at War. Ted had observed that at the time, there were too many who took the game far too seriously and exerted their power over others, and didn’t take the time to appreciate that actually, many just want to hop on and play with a friendly and low intensity community. Thus, the 44th was born. Ted named it the 44th because his great, great grandfather was a part of this regiment in the 19th Century.

The 44th have been a no mandatory attendance, no skill requirements and no tolerance for discrimination of all backgrounds since day one. I’m proud to say that’s now a part of our culture which thrives through people choosing the 44th and being enticed to play; not forced!

Having made some of the largest events in the Holdfast community, and bringing people seriously exciting content, The 44th Royal Anglian (RA) began on the 11th November 2022, and with a BANG! Tonnes of people from the Holdfast side came over to help (ones you’ll recognise as Chairman, Vilestorm and Penguino) and our seeding times were within 15-30 minutes instantly. We knew we had brought the 44th culture with us when we saw how many people were coming in to our servers from outside the 44th saying that they had ‘never had such a pleasant and exciting Squad experience’. We attract the right people, we have ever since, and that’s the formula.

Now, our exciting trainings, hard-working and competent officers, effective processes and vibrant community have been incredible throughout. We have our problems, but the good thing about the 44th is that we are all ready to talk about them. When communication breaks down, and our day to day activities no longer reflect the needs of what people want, then we identify and strategise together
